Christian Watson

WR

Watson's per-game numbers project to a Pro Bowl-tier WR, but he has not been on the field for a full slate in any of his four NFL years. The flat yardage totals (611 → 422 → 620 → 611) are a clue: when he plays he produces at a stable rate, so availability — not usage or efficiency — is the real story.

4 seasons, 20 regular-season TDs in 47 games — health, not talent, has been the limit.

Career 17.02 yards per reception — 2nd-highest among active WRs with 100+ catches.

Why it matters. Y/R captures depth-of-target plus run-after-catch in one number. Watson's mark places him in a small bucket of designated field-stretchers — receivers used as vertical weapons rather than chain-movers. It explains why his target counts stay modest while his yardage spikes when he plays.

Drafted 34th in 2022. The top of his class out-produced him in volume — but nobody matches his per-catch depth.

Why it matters. Watson was the fourth WR off the board in 2022 but was never asked to be a possession option like Wilson, London, or Olave. The volume gap reflects role and games played, not separation issues — and the per-catch gap reflects how GB has used him.

7 TDs in a 4-game span as a rookie (Wks 10-13, 2022) — including a 3-TD game in Dallas.

Why it matters. Rookie WR production usually arrives one big game at a time, not as a sustained four-game burst with multiple multi-score games. Watson's Wk 10-13 binge is the single clearest piece of evidence for his TD upside when healthy — and it's why GB has stuck with him through the injury setbacks.

5+ receiving TDs in 3 of 4 seasons despite missing 21 of 68 possible regular-season games.

Anomaly

Watson availability vs production

YearPlayedMissedRec TDs
20221437
2023985
20241432
20251076

Why it matters. Most receivers with chronic availability problems see their TD efficiency degrade — they lose chemistry windows and red-zone reps. Watson has not: his per-game TD rate has stayed high in every season except 2024. The anomaly is that he scores at a star-WR rate without ever playing a star-WR workload.

Made the playoffs in all 3 seasons of the Jordan Love era — 2023, 2024, 2025.

2024Jordan LoveWild CardDNP (injury)
2025Jordan LoveWild Card1 G, 3 rec, 36 yds, 1 TD

Why it matters. Three playoff trips in three Jordan Love seasons is the team context that frames Watson's career — he has never been a 17-game centerpiece, but he has been part of a January roster every year his QB has had the job. That continuity matters for how GB has handled his usage and health.
