Brandon Aubrey

K · Cowboys

The 3-to-1 margin over any peer shows the Cowboys are deliberately engineering a long-range weapon out of their kicker — a strategic choice no other team has committed to.

6 career FGs of 60+ yards. The rest of the NFL combined has 14 since 2023.

Since Aubrey entered the league in 2023, he has made 6 field goals from 60 yards or longer. The next-best total over the same span is 2 (Cam Little and Joey Slye).

The gap is the entire profile. 60-yard FG attempts used to be a 'we have nothing to lose' Hail Mary; Dallas treats them like 49-yarders. He's connected from 65, 64, 63, 61, 60, 60 — and the team keeps lining them up because the conversion rate keeps holding.

Why it matters. The 3-to-1 margin over any peer shows the Cowboys are deliberately engineering a long-range weapon out of their kicker — a strategic choice no other team has committed to.

From 50+ yards he's a 79.5% kicker. The league-wide rate from that range since 2023 is 69.2%.

The distance-curve view shows where Aubrey earns his paycheck. Under 50 yards he's clinical (77/83 = 92.8%) — virtually automatic. From 50+ he's converted 35 of 44 (79.5%), well above the league-wide rate of 69.2% from that distance since 2023.

Even in the hardest bucket — 60+ yards — he's 6-of-9 (66.7%). That conversion rate on attempts most teams treat as last-resort punts is what sets him apart. The 55-59 range (76.9%) is his one softer spot, but that sits 7 points above the league average from the same zone.

Why it matters. A kicker 10 points above league average from 50+ is a genuine scoring weapon; most teams treat 50-yard FGs as 50-50 propositions.

112 FGs in his first 3 seasons — most of any kicker's first 3 seasons since 2000.

Aubrey made 112 field goals across his first three NFL seasons (2023-2025) — more than any kicker's debut three-year stretch since 2000. The next-best is Justin Tucker's 97 made in his first three seasons (2012-2014).

The gap is 15 field goals over Tucker — a kicker widely regarded as the greatest of all time. Aubrey's volume is driven by Dallas's aggressive usage (127 regular-season FG attempts), but the 88.2% conversion rate means they're not just throwing shots; they're converting them.

Each of Aubrey's three seasons hit 36+ FGM — the only kicker in the DB to clear that mark in all three seasons 2023-2025.

Why it matters. Eclipsing Tucker's first-three-season FGM total — at only slightly lower accuracy — is the clearest single-number statement of Aubrey's historic volume-plus-efficiency profile.

His 65-yard make in 2024 joined a four-name club: Tucker, Aubrey, Little, McLaughlin.

In Week 3 of 2024, Aubrey made a 65-yard field goal — at the time, tied for the second-longest made FG in NFL history.

The 65+ club is just four kickers across the entire play log: Tucker (66), Aubrey (65), McLaughlin (65), and Cam Little (67, 68 — both kicked in 2025). Aubrey got there in his second NFL season, the fastest entry into the club of any kicker on the list.

Why it matters. Only five field goals of 65+ yards have ever been made in NFL history — being one of four kickers on that list after just two seasons is an extraordinary physical statement.

44 attempts from 50+ yards since 2023 — 9 more than the next-closest kicker, at 79.5%.

The Cowboys have given Aubrey 44 field-goal attempts from 50+ yards over three regular seasons — 9 more than any other kicker in that span (Ka'imi Fairbairn, 35). And he's converting them at 79.5%, 10 points above the league-wide rate of 69.2% from that range.

Most kickers on this list have worse efficiency on far fewer reps. Only Boswell (84.8%) and McLaughlin (84.8%) beat him on percentage, and neither has faced the volume — or the 60+ yard shots buried inside Aubrey's 44 attempts.

Why it matters. The combination of most long-range volume and above-average efficiency means Dallas is extracting more expected points from difficult field goals than any team in the league.

Soccer-to-NFL pipeline — and he matched Justin Tucker's entire career 60+ attempt log in three seasons.

60+ yard FG attempts: Tucker career vs Aubrey career

KickerSeasons60+ Att60+ MadeAtt/Season
Justin Tucker2012–2023920.8
Brandon Aubrey2023–2025963.0

Aubrey is a former Notre Dame soccer player and USL/MLS midfielder who didn't kick a football competitively until 2022. He signed with Dallas in 2023, went 36-of-38 as a rookie, then made a 65-yard FG by year two.

The statistical version of that arc: in the 3 seasons of data we have on him, he attempted as many 60+ yard FGs (9) as Justin Tucker did across his entire career in the database (2012–2023). Tucker averaged fewer than one 60+ attempt per season across 11 seasons; Aubrey averages three. It's the most aggressive long-range mandate any kicker has been given in the database era, and it's been justified by the conversion rate (6-of-9 = 66.7%).

Why it matters. Aubrey represents a genuinely new kicker archetype: a weapons-grade specialist deployed on attempts that used to be concession plays, and his conversion rate has validated the Cowboys' aggressive philosophy.
