Rodgers was a sixth-round UMass pick by the Colts in 2020, primarily as a kick returner. The 2021 season turned him into a real corner (35 tackles, 7 PDs in 15 games), but in 2023 he was suspended for the season for violating NFL policy — wiping out an entire year before he could even play a snap for Philadelphia.

He returned with the Eagles in 2024 as a rotational piece, then signed a 2-year deal with Minnesota in 2025 — where he's started all 17 games and produced a career-high 46 tackles.

The Minnesota year is the breakout: 46 tackles in 17 games (2.7/gm) is well above his Colts pace (1.5/gm) and Eagles pace (1.4/gm). Brian Flores moved Rodgers to nickel and increased his slot snaps, which adds run-fits to a role that was previously deep-zone-only.

He also has 4 forced fumbles and 6 fumble recoveries career — turnover-machine numbers for a player who's primarily a slot/dime corner.

Suspended for the entire 2023 season for violating NFL policy — and returned to start in two consecutive years.

Rare

On June 30, 2023, Rodgers was suspended indefinitely (minimum one year) by the NFL for violating league policy. He had just signed with Philadelphia in March. He missed the entire 2023 season — zero snaps, zero stats, but he stayed on the Eagles' roster through reinstatement.

The path back was rare: most players suspended for a league-policy violation don't get a second team after their first comes back. Rodgers got two — Philly gave him 15 games in 2024, then Minnesota signed him to a 2-year, $5M deal in 2025. He's been a full-time starter ever since.

At 5'10" 170 lbs, the smallest starting Vikings defender — and the team's tackle leader through 17 games.

Comparison

Rodgers is listed at 5'10" and 170 pounds — about 25 pounds lighter than the average NFL cornerback. He plays as a 'big-nickel' in Flores' scheme, often matched against the slot WR rather than out wide.

His 46 tackles through 17 games are the most of any Minnesota DB this season. That's an unusual physical-tax profile for someone his size, and the consistency (he hasn't missed a game) is part of what justified his contract.
