Clark was a 6th-round pick in 2017 (Virginia Tech) who turned into Baltimore's full-time strong safety from 2019-2022 (four straight 42+ tackle seasons). His career inflection points: 2020 (career-high 54 tackles), the 2023 lost year, and a steady veteran arc in 2024 NYJ and 2025 PIT.

After 6 straight seasons in Baltimore as a starter, Clark was traded to the Jets in March 2023. He tore his ACL in training camp and missed the entire 2023 season — zero recorded defensive plays. He returned in 2024 and immediately played all 17 games, putting up a clean 36-tackle, 2-PD line at age 29.

The gap between 2022 and 2024 is the only break in an otherwise unbroken 9-season run.

His 2020 season — 54 tackles, 4 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 2 FF — is the most complete stat line of his career.

Milestone

The 2020 Ravens line is the high-water mark: career-best tackles (54), career-best TFL (4), career-best sacks (1.5), and 3 fumble recoveries. That season Clark replaced Earl Thomas in the box-safety role and answered every question — physical against the run, productive on blitzes, and a takeaway threat.

It's the only year he posted double-digit run-stuff plays (TFL + sacks combined) while also generating multiple turnovers — a complete safety year.

6 years in Baltimore vs 2 years elsewhere: 220 tackles as a Raven, 68 tackles in NYJ + PIT combined.

The Baltimore chapter was where Clark became a known commodity: 220 tackles, 32 PDs, 3.5 sacks across 6 seasons, almost all as a starter from 2019 onward. The post-Ravens stretch has been a steadier veteran role — fewer snaps, but he's still posting 30+ tackles per season at age 30.

7 career forced fumbles — a top-end takeaway rate for a non-blitz safety since 2017.

Rare

Clark has 7 career forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries — 12 fumble events generated across his career. For a strong safety whose job is largely coverage and run support (not a blitz-heavy role like a slot LB), that's an above-average takeaway profile.

The 2019 and 2020 seasons each produced 2 FFs — the only two safeties in Baltimore history with consecutive multi-FF seasons in that range.

3rd Steelers safety in two years — joins the post-Minkah era as a veteran stabilizer.

Comparison

Pittsburgh has shuffled its safety room significantly post-Minkah Fitzpatrick. Clark arrived in 2025 as the veteran answer alongside DeShon Elliott and Juan Thornhill — three former starters competing for two spots.

His 32 tackles, 4 PDs, 3 TFL through 18 weeks is steady but no longer headliner — the production curve of a 30-year-old box safety filling a part-time starter role on a contender.
